Bye 2021, hello 2022 uncharted waters

Hello friends and fellow readers. It’s been a while. What have you been up to?

The past two years have been strange, haven’t they? I can certainly say that my bingo card pretty much filled up past capacity for 2021.

From what I’ve heard and read, most feel the same way. Never mind covid, the last two years have personally been a chaotic mess of weird. It’s hard to believe we’re already in 2022. When I look back at 2021, I feel like a lot happened that would have better served in a horror novel. Never thought I’d get my first ambulance ride, or witness bizarre health issues in the fam (thankfully, they’re doing better now.) Somewhere along the lines, I’m pretty sure I’d lost my mind and was about ready to clock out. Had it not been for the support of family sticking together, friends, and prayer, I might have not recovered as quickly as I did, or worse, abandoned writing all together, which I came very close to doing if I’m being honest. Will spare the details. Right now, I want to talk about what I’m excited about in 2022! New projects. Same passion. Stronger flame.

During that process of stepping back and focusing on mental health recovery, it amazed me to stumble onto an unexpected project. While writing was nonexistent, I couldn’t help but explore a different side of creativity. Curiosity led me to the idea of making a kid’s book. Out of personal therapy, it started with maze doodles. Then I began shifting more into the idea of a full ABC handwriting book for kids.

At the end of the 2021, me and my mother published that kid’s book. It’s an ABC activity book you can find on Amazon. The brand we developed is called High Moon Books. If you’re interested in that, be sure to check out our website. High Moon Books is a mother-daughter duo and we’re aiming to bring more books in the near future. Our first book is the Handwriting Practice Workbook.

We’re putting together another activity book purely of mazes and have plans to make a collection of stories with puzzles included. Thrilled about that project. It’s always fun to do something different for a change and explore other territories.

Speaking of other territories. This is definitely the year of uncharted waters and I’m all for it. This is probably not so kid friendly, but it might interest adult horror or dark fiction writers. It certainly interested me, which is why I jumped on board. I teamed up with a fellow writer and we’re planning a secret project for horror writers. Reveal to be announced next week. I will post the full details about that project on this site, so please be sure to check back here. Super excited about that as well!

Overall, I’m excited for the year 2022 and the possibilities. Maybe I’ll get that agent I’ve always wanted. Maybe I’ll finally step more out of my comfort zone. Maybe more book contracts? Anything is possible, and I hope that whoever is reading this, also sees good things coming their way for 2022.
Talk soon.

    • Hi Michelle,

Thank you for stopping by and for the positive vibes. I hear ya. It’s funny how change inspires us to change whether we like or not. I’m reminded of growing pains. I do hope 2022 is treating you better though. Here’s to making the most out of this funny thing called life. 😁
