The Bounty Hunter’s Bargain is a cozy read sure to bring all the feels and laughs. With cowboys, mystery, and a dash of action, it delivers as a page turner. Lucette Nel weaves the readers a story of love, friendship, redemption, and second chances.
Hero, Jack Sullivan, is a cunning bounty hunter out on the hunt for his wanted man, ur, woman. Immediately I was pulled in by the plot. Plus, it’s hard to not fall for the bounty hunter. I imagine readers will also take a liking to him once they meet him. But Jack is not without his hiccups and hangups, something I believe the author handles well in his development.
I must mention a personal favorite in the story, which is the heroine, Annabelle Lawson. She runs a boarding house full of rambunctious boarders. Some of those crazy boarders either had me chuckling or wincing from their lack of manners, haha, some were quite funny. Thank goodness Annabelle has the patience of a saint. Not only is Annabelle protective and caring toward friends and her boarders, but she knows when to put her foot down (or whip out her gun) should anyone she knows and loves come in harm’s way. Ah, I adore her for it.

Victoria: Eep! Let’s get started. I’ll try to stay professional, haha. Congrats on your new release! How amazing it is that your book has finally hit the shelves. What can you tell us about the Redemption Bluff series and how The Bounty Hunter’s Bargain became a part of this project?
Lucette Nel: Kari Trumbo is the mastermind behind the Redemption Bluff series. It’s a struggling town where most of the residents are either running from something, hiding, or in Annabelle’s case, determined for a new beginning.
Victoria: One trait I admire about Annabelle is her fierce protectiveness. She’s like a mama bear but also kind and patient. If any, what traits do you share with Annabelle?
Lucette Nel: I can easily tell you the trait I want. I wish I cleaned when I was upset 😅🤣.
Victoria: Oh, same. Who cleans anymore? I know that you’re dedicated to putting in a lot of research when it comes to writing about historical periods. What aspect do you enjoy during your research?
Lucette Nel: I love researching the fashion of the period. I find excuses to look up my characters wardrobes all the time.
Victoria: That would explain all those fancy dresses on your Pinterest board, hehe. There is something charming about going back in time, which is one of the reasons why I think readers enjoy historical fiction. If you could hop in a time machine, which time period would you go to?
Lucette Nel: Definitely the Gilded Age. But I wouldn’t want to live in the period indefinitely.
Victoria: You’re probably one of the busiest people I know, so when you do find time to write, do you take full advantage of that writing time, or does writer’s block often strike?
Lucette Nel: Currently my biggest struggle is exhaustion. LoL. Sometimes I’m so eager to write but I’m just too tired and whatever I did manage to write was so awful I have to cut or edit.
Victoria: The Bounty Hunter’s Bargain is not without its twists. There was one gasp moment for sure that I hadn’t quite expected. I won’t spoil that. Where there any scenes or ideas that completely shocked you?
Lucette Nel: You know I never write with everything planned out. So I had several gasps 😂.
Victoria: Yup, classic seat-of-the-pants writer you are. What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Lucette Nel: Grow a thick skin. It’s always painful to receive criticism, but it’s inevitable.
Victoria: True. Painfully true. Before we go, one last question. What new books are you currently working on? Anything else readers can expect from you in the future?
Lucette Nel: A Christmas novella that is taking longer than I had hoped. The Christmas Husband will be a fun read about a man thrust unexpectedly into the role of a husband and father.
